Queen Elizabeth College, Darlington, will be the new venue on Saturday 16 November 2019 for the Rotary Young Musician Competition, now in its 26th year. Organised jointly by the Northallerton and Darlington Rotary Clubs, it is a friendly but high quality event for young pianists, string players and wind/brass players aged 8 to 18. There are valuable cash prizes on offer, together with a chance to progress to the next round in the National Rotary Young Musician Competition which culminates next spring.
The separate instrumental classes are held throughout the day (no audience charge). The 9 finalists then compete in a concert that evening for the public, also in the College at 7.00 pm, at the end of which the overall winner is chosen by the adjudicator. The extraordinary talent among the finalists is always humbling for the highly appreciative audience. All are welcome, £6 admission on the door.
